Waited till the last minute to go Holiday shopping? I’ve got you covered!

Only 7 days until Christmas!! But who’s counting?

I can’t wait to spend some time with my family with a cup of hot chocolate in hand, with a couple of gifts waiting for me under the tree (maybe??). Speaking of gifts, I still haven’t started my holiday shopping. YIKES! Lucky for me, there’s a thing called online shopping.

Here’s my top 5 sites great for those last minute shoppers like myself:

  1. ZARA – I love how you can always find something trendy that’s going to last you a few years.
  2. AMAZON – The site that where you can literally buy anything your heart desires. From phone cases to groceries – what’s next?
  3. MACY’S – Now that it’s getting a bit colder outside, what a better place to buy your loved ones a new jacket than Macy’s?
  4. BEST BUY – Nowadays, everyone’s looking for the next best electronic device out there. Whether it’s the newest iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, etc. You’ll definitely find what you’re looking for here.
  5. SEPHORA – How many times have you went into a Sephora for a mascara and came out with everything…besides what you went in for? I love how they have something for everybody. Skincare, make up, perfume; everything I love in one store!

Online shopping is one of my favorite pass time, it’s so easy and quick. Whenever I get my packages, it’s like Christmas every time. However, when you’re going online shopping, you have to stay sharp and make sure you don’t land on a bogus retail website and have your credit card information get swiped. Luckily, I found an article on LifeLock that’ll help you with that. The article shares 15 tips for safe holiday online shopping. Happy shopping and stay safe out there!

A Little Kindness Goes A Long Way

Last Saturday, I went to the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, NYC where lots of artists, politicians, celebrities, etc. come together for one event and speak about important matters all around the world. Not only was this event meaningful, but also so fun.

Let’s just say I got to relive my high school dream when I listened to Green Day live.

With a meaningful night like that end so quickly, I wanted to give back to the world and help out wherever I can. One of the problems that they talked about is Global Water Crisis. Did you know that more than 844M are living with no safe water access and it’s time for us to start/continue to take a stand to not only the water crisis, but all other charity that hits home.

For me, I’m the happiest when I’m surround with people I love and food. I’m such a big foodie and it kills me to know that there are people out there that have little to no access to food. If you’d like to join me in a donation, please donate here.

If you want to start a page to bring awareness to people and start a fundraiser, check out the Eventbrite’s non-profit fundraising page. There are step-by-steps for you to follow to ensure a successful fundraiser.

A little help goes a long way 🙂

Wedding SZN

So you’re going to a wedding…now what?
It’s August, so it’s wedding season! All my friends are going to weddings left and right, while I’m over here still waiting for someone to get married. (No pressure, friends!) Weddings are SO fun…I LOVE THEM.
From the ceremony, to the 1st dance, to the food, to the booze, to the dancing, the list goes on. Honestly, weddings are like prom but with way more chaperones and it includes booze (if you’re 21+).
Although weddings are fun, they’re also stressful for both the bride & groom and the guests. There’s always that lingering question – “what kind of gift do I get them?” I still ask that question and didn’t find the answer till now because I’ve found Zola, the ultimate wedding tool (aka the best wedding registry option out there). Here’s a couple tips on what to do and not to do when giving a wedding gift:
DO:
  • Shop on the registry – the couple picked out exactly what they want as a gift, how easy is that?
  • If you’re close with the couple, be sure to include a personal touch. (i.e. adding their initial to a pair of cups)
  • Besides a gift on the registry, you also need to include real money. (Your wedding is the perfect time to have your friends and family buy you everything you ever wanted mwhaha, jk..kinda) Not sure how much to give? A rule of thumb is, if you’re just friends, $50-$100, if you’re family, $100+.
DON’T:
  • Don’t bring the gift to the wedding!!! Although, watching the bride and groom carrying their brand new table in their gown would be pretty funny.
  • Don’t show up late to a wedding, it’s super awkward.
  • Don’t show up empty handed, at least bring a card with some cash inside of it.
  • Don’t get too drunk from the free booze and make a fool of yourself. (I’ve seen that happen and it’s NOT pretty)
Let me know what you’d want as a gift when you get married/what was your fav gift you received from your registry?
Love,
V

College, Here I Come

Dear 18 year old me,

Your life is about to change, because college is coming. It’s the most exciting and nerve-wrecking time of your life, you’ll both love it and hate it at the same time. The people you’re going to meet are going to be stuck with you for life, they’re not going anywhere. But, you’ll also be meeting people that you’re never going to speak to ever again, and that’s ok.

Here are some things to keep in mind when you’re preparing yourself for this journey:

  • Have a meal plan during your freshman year, because you CANNOT live off of kraft mac and cheese every night
  • Join a club freshman year, it’s a great way for you to meet friends and understand your major at the same time
  • Participate in class, because participation points are a thing in college still
  • Don’t buy your books until after your first week of school and if you do, check out Chegg first. Ain’t nobody got time for full priced textbooks
  • Make sure you buy a planner, because it’ll be your life
  • Before your first day of class, go on a quick walk through where your classes are going to be so you’re not late on your first day
  • Check out your roommate(s) online before moving in, better yet – find your roommate online before you move in
  • Buy a bath caddie to put all your bath stuff in, because you’ll most likely be sharing a bathroom with a few girls
  • COMMAND HOOKS ARE LIFE SAVERS, BUY LOTS OF THEM
  • Get a shoe rack because you’ll thank me
  • Also, don’t forget a snack drawer – during those late nights, you’ll thank me
  • Don’t forget those flip flops for the shower – trust me, you don’t want to stand on those bathroom floors
  • Buy a foam topper for your mattress, because without it, it’ll feel like a cardboard box
  • Do your research. Financial Aid and student loans are hard topics to fully understand. Seek resources when and where you can. Like Earnest, they have great content to help explain how to apply for financial aid and can even help after you graduate.
  • Finally, don’t forget to go out and have fun!

Hope this helps all of you college in-commers J If you have anything you’d like to add in to my list, feel free to add to my list!

Love,

Review: All Set 👌🏼

Someone from All Set recently gave me a promo code to try them out, and honestly, idk how I’ve survived without this app.

Basically, you choose the restaurant you want to dine at, your meal and pay for it beforehand. When you get to the restaurant, you tell them your name and everything is all set. 😂 (hence the app name)

If you wanna try it out, I have a promo code (INSTAGRAM) for you, which will give you $10 off your first 3 orders. 😘 Check them out and let me know your thoughts!

Stripes in the sun ☀️

If you’re ever in downtown Tampa and looking for a cute date idea, go to the Riverwalk. It’s such a relaxing walk and the scenery is to die for. At the end of the walk, there’s a fine arts museum that you can go to. (You have to pay for admission obviously) Also, this place is one of the best places to go watch the sunset 🌅. *fellas, you’re welcome”

I’m officially 23!

About a month ago, I officially turned 23! I’m not sure how I feel about this age because according to Blink 182 – nobody likes you when you’re 23.

But I guess Blink was wrong because some of my friends came out and celebrated my special day with me. (yay friends for showing up, even though I planned this 3 days before!) For the past 2 years, I’ve been having my birthday bash in Morristown, New Jersey. If you have never been there before, think of it as a small NYC town, except on a much smaller scale. There are a few modern bars & restaurants in the center of Morristown & it’s definitely a popping place at night.

Since my birthday is in January, it’s FREEZING out at night. So on the night of my birthday bash, I went for a more comfy-chic look (I also came straight from work in the city). Most of my outfit is from the most affordable yet chic store in the world – H&M. (LOVE)

Jacket: H&M | Shirt: H&M | Belt: H&M | Pants: Hollister | Shoes: Mandees

Let me know what you think about my birthday bash outfit & what is your go-to comfy chic store?

How to balance a Healthy Lifestyle

I have to be 100% honest with you all, it’s HARD balancing a healthy lifestyle. Some say it’s impossible, but like my bio – even the word impossible has I’m possible in it.

As you all know (if you’re a new reader, keep on reading and you’ll be all caught up!), I recently started my full time job which has a longer work day than most. I wake up everyday at 5am and sometimes don’t get home until 8pm or 9pm. Yet I still manage to do a quick 30 mins to 1 hour workout daily.

When you’re working out, you HAVE TO motivate yourself by setting a goal. It could either be losing X amount of weight or building muscles. Whatever your goal may be, stick to it. Write it in a journal and track your progress daily. You could also take a picture every week to see your own progress, that’s always a great way to motivate yourself to work harder.

When working out, it’s important to be sweating your butt off. That’s how you know you’re pushing yourself. Since I have such a tight schedule, I usually workout at home by watching some YouTube videos instead of going to a gym. Here are some channels I LOVE working out to.

Boho Beautiful, she does a lot of yoga, Pilates and HIIT workouts. She shows you detailed instructions and does it with you. I LOVE doing this when I want to fit a quick workout in. I usually do 2 videos per workout.

XHit, it’s a channel showcasing various trainers with various exercises. It depends on what you’re aiming to do, they probably have it. Again, I usually do 2 videos per workout.

Lastly, the infamous Kayla Itsines! If you want, you can purchase her ebook guide online or download her app to purchase them as well. However, I found that if you do this little trick, you can do her Bikini Body Guide (BBG) for free.

  1. Search Kayla Itsines on YouTube
  2. Click on the first video. It’s of a woman doing the whole guide showcasing her transformation and it tells you what the exercises are.

Fair warning: the BBG is HARD and will make you SWEAT!!! But it’ll feel so good afterwards. Currently I’m only on week 1, day 2. Follow my health journey on my Instagram!!

As you can tell, I’m a skinny built girl – but I want to be fit and healthy. Follow my journey!

The High Line • Chelsea Market • Meatpacking District

Beyond this point you may encounter nude sunbathers. In case you were wondering, I didn’t see any.

BEST. POPSICLE. EVER. All homemade, fresh fruit Popsicles that melt your problems away on a hot summer day.

This past July 4th weekend, Sagi and I went on a mini vacation to explore NYC! This is one of the many places we stopped by – The Meatpacking District.

We first went on The High Line, and walked up and down the bridge. Throughout the whole bridge, there are art left and right for you to admire. When you walk towards the middle, there are a bunch of vendors, such as this popsicle place.

When you walk down the stairs from the middle, you will end up at The Chelsea Market aka the best location for all foodies. There are more than 15 vendors inside, from Italian food to fresh seafood. Sagi and I found the BEST food combo ever and inexpensive as well. If you purchase a fresh pita bread from DIZEN GOFF and a bowl of fresh lobster bisque from The Lobster Place, you will taste heaven in your mouth. No joke, Sagi wanted to tell the security guard to try it.

Besides those two vendors, there are lots of other delicious places to try from. Unfortunately, we ate too much before we arrived :(. Tip of the day: don’t be like Sagi and I, be sure to go on an empty stomach!!!

If you’ve ever been, please let me know which is your favorite vendor! Also, leave a comment below on where we should go next in NYC.

Much Love,

The Lion King: On Broadway | Review

lion king broadway picture

Disclaimer: My review of The Lion Kong is solely based on a personal opinion.

Hakuna Matata, it means no worries. Who has heard that phrase before? Probably everyone…I hope. Well if you don’t know this phrase, then you should go to your local public library to pick up a copy of The Lion King and watch it ASAP.

Recently, I got a chance to watch The Lion King live on broadway at Minskoff Theatre in New York City (NYC) and here’s what I have to say about the experience. Initially, when you get there, you wait in a line outside. The line wasn’t too bad and it went by fairly quickly. They check your bag and jackets prior to entering so it made me feel safe(r) being in a dark theater. The theater itself is 3(?) stories tall and there are theater staffs at every floor to help navigate you to the proper seating area. Outside of the theater is a little concession stand with alcoholic beverages, snacks, and soft drinks. The pricing of the items are a little expensive, but that was predicted. (Imagine the movies, but a little bit more expensive.)

After getting my drink, I walked into the theater and a theater staff helped me find my seat. The whole process was pretty smooth and it was enjoyable. The theater itself is a decent size, I sat in the orchestra section towards the left. I could see basically the entire stage and the seats were comfortable. The theater wasn’t too cold or hot throughout the whole show, it was the perfect temperature.

The show itself was great, the costumes were amazing and the actors/actresses were awesome. But, I would still personally won’t recommend this as a “must-see” broadway show. Here’s why. The beginning of the show is incredible with great songs and acting. However, as the show goes on, it gets more…boring. It was hard to adjust from cartoon characters to real life people with masks on top of their heads. Even though they sang each and every song flawlessly, the show itself as a whole was just not as enjoyable as I imagined so. The beginning of the show is the most exciting part, the middle and end are the most “ehh” parts.

If you have seen The Lion King on broadway as well, what were your thoughts on it? Do you agree with my opinion or do you disagree? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
