Walking down the streets of NYC feeling like a bohemian princess. Boho is probably one of my favorite type of outfits to wear in the world, it’s so comfortable and really shows people your personality. This outfit particularly really shows who I am and my characteristic. I wore this outfit on a hot summer day, the pants are flowy enough to not feel too hot and the crop top helps me cool down. I went with a simple black and white color pattern, rather than adding any colors to it. I love the simplicity of this outfit.
Delicious AND healthy?! That’s the best kind of food combination out there, and I cannot agree more. Fresh & Co is the place to go, in New York City if you want that food combo. They have fresh salads, sandwiches, soups, and quinoa bowls. I picked the Chicken Fresco sandwich and the Thai Turkey quinoa bowl, both very delicious.
The Chick Fresco has slices of chicken with avocado and cheese, the combination is just mouth watering. The items inside were so fresh and you can definitely taste it, it’s something you could make at home. The Thai Turkey quinoa bowl is made with thai turkey pan fried with a ton of different veggies, on top of brown organic quinoa. Both very healthy, and the size is pretty big as well.
The environment of the store can be described in one word – welcoming. You get that “farm to table” feeling when you step inside of the store. You can smell how fresh everything is and you can see how everything is being made. There were a good amount of people there, not too many seating areas, but the store itself is pretty long. The staff is very friendly, it really puts that cherry on top of a great overall experience.
I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quick, healthy meal in NYC. Have you ever tried this place? If yes, which is your favorite item on the menu??
I recently learned how to kayak from a close friend of mine. I’ll be honest, I was terrified at first, I chickened out, but my friend forced me to go on it and guaranteed it will be fun. I eventually went kayaking, and laughed at how silly I was for being scared. Ever since then, I want to kayak again, but never wanted to pay for it. So I searched online and found “Free Kayaking in NYC”. My initial thought was, “This cannot be real…” But, decided to go for it anyways…and what do you know? IT’S REAL!
This free kayaking location is at Pier 26 in NYC. You have to be able to swim, in order to participate. They provide you with a life vest, kayak, and paddle. All you have to do is sign a waiver, saying you understand everything. Everyone that’s working the event are all volunteers, which is so great. They are open everyday from May to October. (I believe) You are able to go kayaking for 20 minutes on your own, which is awesome. You get pretty tired afterwards, so 20 minutes is more than enough. You do have to stay within a certain perimeter, which isn’t really a problem. Everyone is very respectful of on another, it’s a great environment to be at. I’d definitely recommend this place/activity for anyone who is looking to do something in NYC.
Going out at night, calls for a good outfit. I wanted to wear something comfortable, but modern, since I will be walking around NYC all night. I picked a pair of comfy booties from Toms, it’s my favorite pair of booties that’s made for walking long distance, while looking good. I wore a pair of cream color shorts from Banana Republic, because it is still the summer, so it’s pretty hot and humid out. I love the detailing on the shorts, it makes a simple pair of shorts look sophisticated. I wore a halter top tank with lace detailing on the bottom as my top, from Marshalls. Since the shirt itself is a little see through, I decided to pair my white blazer from Banana Republic over it. I folded the sleeves up a little, to give it a casual feel to my outfit. To tie it all together, I wore my brown Calvin Klein bag, to give it some color.
Even though not all my items were the perfect shade of white, but it worked. The different shades of white, gave my outfit character. It wasn’t super modern and blend, but it gave it dimension. It’s now one of my new favorite outfit of all time, it’s simple, yet modern.
This toner by Simple is simply the best toner I’ve ever used. It’s so gentle to my skin, it doesn’t dry it out, rather, it moisturize my skin. It leaves my face feeling fresh after usage. It takes off make up and clears out my pores.
You can buy this at your local target or grocery store. It’s definitely worth trying!
Like I mentioned in my previous post, we found this cute little store in Califon, NJ. This store has been around since the 1990’s, it still has that rustic feel to it. The store itself is small, but big enough to have a deli/hot sandwich station and be a small convenience store.
The deli/ hot sandwich section is THE BOMB! We got a pulled pork sandwich, so fresh and delicious. We also got their famous burger. We usually get our burgers medium well, but this only had one option of cooking it well. So we were a little disappointed at first, but let me tell you…that was the BEST well done burger I’ve ever had. It was so juicy and soft, it almost feels like it melts in your mouth. You just have to try it out for yourself!
Do you have a favorite place to eat after a long bike ride??
I went on a 10 mile bike ride with my boyfriend a few days ago. This trail is call the Columbia Trail, it also connects a few towns together. It’s hard to tell you where it’s located, because you can start from any point in any town you’d like.
We started in a town call Long Valley, NJ, ended up in Califon, NJ. We found a stream on the way and stopped for a few pictures. But, I really wanted to stop so I could rest. We can keep that in the DL. Once we arrived in Califon, we got a quick lunch at a place call Rambo’s Country Store. Such a cute little store, it’s been around since the 1990’s. I’ll have that blog up in a few days, you don’t want to miss out!
Shake Shack @ The Paramus Mall // Aroma Espresso Bar @ The Paramus Mall
A few days ago, my boyfriend and I decided to go to the Paramus Mall. We walked around and shopped a little, but we were really there for the food. Little did we know, there is a Shake Shack at the mall, and I’ve heard about this delicious restaurant all over social media. I walked in and it feels like the Noodle Factor. The menu is small, but it doesn’t need to expand anymore. We got a roadside burger: sautéed onions, beef burger, cheese, and toasted bun. We paired it with a side of fries, which were perfectly crispy and soft on the inside. The burger itself is SO juicy and soft on the inside, it wasn’t overcooked, it was perfect. It basically melted in your mouth with every bite. Oh, I wish I lived closer, because I could really use a Shake Shack burger right about now.
Next, we went to this coffee shop call, Aroma Espresso Bar. My boyfriend ordered the Aroma coffee, which had chocolate bars inside, espresso, and homemade whipped cream. It was the perfect amount of sweet and bitter, and I don’t really like coffee myself. I got a chai latte, because it’s my favorite drink in the world. I honestly doesn’t taste like any chai lattés I’ve ever had, but in a good way. I can’t even describe it, it taste like a vanilla latte, and it’s so delicious. I would recommend this café to everyone.
Let me know if you guys have ever been to those places before!
Today is the first day of August, surprisingly it wasn’t too hot out. Fun fact: I had leather shorts on right before I changed into these thrifted Levi’s jeans. The weather was perfect, it was sunny with a little breeze here and there. My family and I went to a Chinese restaurant with our family friends. (Click here for the Chinese food blog.) We’ve been to this restaurant for a while now, their portions are pretty big and food is delicious. However, the location isn’t the greatest, it could definitely be relocated. Onto my outfit…
My grey knitted tank is from Banana Republic, it was on sale for $12, originally $60. The back of the shirt has an open back detail, it’s so pretty. Also, the open back isn’t too revealing. This shirt is perfect for all seasons, definitely worth the buy! The ripped Levi’s jeans is from a thrift shop. I bought it for $7, what a steal! The rips are perfectly ripped, not too big, but big enough to give off the edgy vibe. My Calvin Klein bag is from Marshalls, on sale for $70. My sissy actually bought this for me, so sweet! Lastly, my sandals that I definitely over wear is from Arizona, I’ve had them for years.
Firstly, I’d like to apologize for the bad quality pictures. I was unable to take my outfit picture outside, utilizing the natural light outside. But, I still liked my casual outfit and wanted to share with you guys! My grey shirt is from Banana Republic for $8 on sale. The shirt itself is so soft and so comfortable to wear. The open back is a little too big for me, but it’s doable. It’s very casual, but it adds a little “oomph” to the outfit. Definitely recommend this casual tee to everyone, it’s so easy to pair. For myself, I paired it with my black jeggings that I got from TJMAXX years ago. I loved this casual outfit and will definitely repeat this outfit again.
